"Pretty raw" Day puts smile back on Blackmore's face

After falls from Elysian Plains and Tarazani in the opening couple of events, Rachael Blackmore was back on a winner in race six at Gowran, 2/1 joint favourite Judgement Day delivering in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Captain Christy Rated Novice Chase.
Judgement Day's fellow market-leader Polar Present came a cropper in a nasty looking spill at the eighth, and unfortunately Lasoscar seemed to lose his action and was pulled up before the straight.
Up front Judgement Day eventually got the better of a doughty Justmemyselfandi by three parts of a length.
"It was a super ride. He's not easy but he's getting there," said winning trainer Henry de Bromhead.
"Obviously the trip suited him really well and we'll see what's coming up.
"He's not easy on himself, he seems to like to make life difficult for himself, but he has plenty of ability and he's getting there. He's still pretty raw."
D.F. O'Regan, rider of Lasoscar trained by Liam P Cusack, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount pulled up lame.
