- Power on his way to Royal Ascot
Power on his way to Royal Ascot
Michael Mulvany was denied a famous win in the Listed T P Waters European Breeders Fund Marble Hill Stakes when his Tough As Nails was short-headed by Ballydoyle's Power in a pulsating conclusion to the five furlong event at the Curragh.
Tough As Nails travelled better to the business end than the imposing Power and neither deserved to lose but at the line the Seamie Heffernan-ridden Aidan O'Brien-trained victor prevailed by the minimum margin.
There was a four length gap back to the third placed Fire Lily
Heffernan said afterwards: "He has a bit of class as five furlongs wouldn't be his trip. That race fitted in nicely for him as he now has two runs under his belt going to Royal Ascot which I'd imagine would be on the agenda."
Boylesports cut Power from 6/1 into 5/1 for the Coventry Stakes.
Meanwhile Stan James go 9/2 fav from 6s for the same race. It's then 6/1 Gatepost and 10/1 others.
