Poet makes it two for O'Brien/Murtagh
Poet is certainly a progressive type and the four-year-old son of Pivotal made it three on the bounce by making all in the Group 3 At The Races Kilternan Stakes to complete a double for Aidan O'Brien and Johnny Murtagh.
After his Irish Cambridgeshire heroics just six days ago, the 9/4 favourite had his six rivals in bother from a long way out in this mile and a quarter event and he stayed at his task gamely to see off the staying-on second market-choice, Allied Powers by four and a half lengths.
O'Brien commented: "We were obviously a bit worried coming back that quick after winning under top-weight in heavy ground last week. He has a high cruising speed and he has obviously progressed very well. The ground was very different to the Curragh but he is a good moving horse and he should have no problem stepping up again. There is a Group 2 over a mile and one on Arc weekend, I'm not sure if he's in it but he could go there."
