The Jim Bolger trained Pirolo gained his maiden in the Velstone Work Surface Handicap (division 1) at Navan today, scoring under near-bottom weight under jockey Rory Cleary.
The son of Teofilo, racing from a mark of 47 and a weight of 8st5lbs, was produced to lead a furlong out and in the end stayed on well to beat Buzz Off Barroso
Bolger was represented by his travelling head man Ger Flynn who later stated “he had a good run at Gowran when he was only beaten three-and-a-quarter lengths and Rory said he was going to be positive on him today.
“When he came back in he said that he'd make a lovely hurdler for someone and he's genuine and a beautiful ride.
“We're delighted with him and he kept going at the end.”
