Penny Jane completed a hat-trick of recent wins when landing the featured Grade B coopsuperstores.ie Handicap Chase at Cork today, scoring for last night's American Grand National winning trainer Gordon Elliott.
Penny Jane, a daughter of Shantou, worn down leader Lakemilan in the home straight, improved to lead on the run-in and while she drifted left in the closing stages, held that rival by two lengths at the line.
A subsequent Stewards Enquiry was quickly dealt with as Penny Jane was confirmed a valuable Grade B winner.
Elliott's Jury Duty won yesterday's American Grand National at Far Hills, for jockey Robbie Power, and following today's success, Penny Jane's jockey Denis O'Regan said "she jumped ok through the race and was a bit green when she hit the front but hopefully she will keep progressing.
"It was a nice pot to win and the yard is on fire and is obviously in good form. It was good she improved from her last run even though, even though that was also a win, and she is obviously progressing.
"It was nice for the owners and I'm delighted for them."
