The Jessica Harrington trained Painted Lady gained a first career success in the Book Your Christmas Party At Fairyhouse December 20th Mares Beginners Chase at Fairyhouse today, winning on her chase debut for jockey Robbie Power.
The daughter of Presenting had give trouble at the start in some of her unsuccessful 13 previous starts but made no mistake today, jumping well and making much of the running for a nine lengths win over Ballychorus Seven to four favourite Theatre Bird was giving chase to the winner when unshipping Davy Russell at the second last fence.
Afterwards Harrington stated “she's been wanting fences and is a brilliant jumper. She's never been ungenuine but is a little quirky and we have the starts organised now, taking her in late.
“Robbie said four out she left him sitting on her tail and said he's never had a ride like that in a beginners chase before! I bought her from (show jumper) Nick Skelton and I'd say she was very well schooled as a three-year-old!
“We'll keep her to mares chases from two-and-a-half miles upwards.”
