Packsapunch (9/1) lived up to his name when staying on strongly along the stand-side rail to land division one of the seven and a half furlong handicap for Andrew Lee and Declan McDonogh.
The six-year-old gelding was tried in first-time blinkers after hanging right throughout his last race at Limerick when he finished sixth of 12 in a six and a half furlong handicap in June.
“I’m delighted for the owners (Gone Dutch Syndicate). They have stuck with him when others might not have,” Andrew Lee said.
“Declan won on him previously a couple of times [Curragh and Galway October 2009]. I love the way he approaches his rides. He’ll go for something similar next.” Crouching Harry occupied the runner-up berth at 7/1 for Paul Deegan and Chris Hayes. Irish Reel came in third for the third consecutive time. Punters also got their fingers burned for the third time in a row on her as again she was sent off favourite, this time at 2/1 from 7/2 in the morning.
