Owennacurra Milan leads over the last from Seventy Three

The two for money in the Goresbridge Handicap Hurdle, the favourite Owennacurra Milan (7/2 this morning into 5/2) and Seventy Three (at least 7s this morning into 7/2) filled the first two places in the two miler with the former scoring convincingly in the hands of Rob Jones at Gowran.
This Milan gelding doesn't do a whole lot in front as he showed when winning at Thurles last time, and here Jones was at pains to wait before asking the seven-year-old for his maximum effort. He went for the rail on the run-in and Owennacurra Milan found what was required to beat Seventy Three by two lengths.
Mary Louise Hallahan trains Owennacurra Milan and she said: "He seems to have improved a lot and Rob gave him a super ride – he timed it right.
"He's a horse that doesn't want to hit the front too early but he hadn't much choice there as he got there going well.
"We're delighted as we were a bit worried about running him back so quick (9 days after his Thurles win). He was telling me that he was in great from so we had to come here.
"It'll probably be a fortnight before he runs again. He won't go on better ground so we'll try to squeeze another one in before the summer comes.
"I'm not sure if he'll stay at two miles – he has the option of going up in trip too." (GC & EM)
