Ongenstown on the map
Gillian O’Callaghan recorded her seventh winner as a trainer when her Ongenstown Lad landed the Follow Gowran On Facebook Handicap Hurdle at Gowran today.
Ridden by Keith Donoghue, the gelding moved to the front two out before proving too strong for Cootamundra from the final flight.
Afterwards O’Callaghan said “he handled the ground, stayed well and I’m delighted with him, even if the race cut up a bit.”
Ongenstown Lad is owned by Oliver O’Callaghan, an uncle of the trainer’s husband and Meath 1999 All-Ireland winner, Barry O’Callaghan.
