A quick start was the winning of the five-furlong nursery in Dundalk for On Tick
The handicap debutant broke well from stall nine to race freely and prominently just off Settle Me Down
On Tick went past Settle Me Down with a furlong and a half to go and was ridden by Mark Gallagher to go and win his race at the furlong pole.
He was driven out to see off a staying-on Kitten On The Keys (14/1) by three parts of a length. Lady Maura the heavily punted 9/4 favourite, was another half a length down in third.
Trainer Katy Brown said: “He deserved to win that tonight. He had a nice mark.
“We tried the cheekpieces, not because he is ungenuine, just to get him to travel better in his race. He just seemed to be missing the kick and then was on his head early.
“Today he pinged the gates and travelled lovely, hopefully there are a few more races in him.
“He's been second and third a few times and he's been unlucky, bumped into a some nice horses.
“He's done the job tonight and might get a little break now but Mark said there is a winners of one next month and he could come back for that before he gets his break. We'll see how he comes out of tonight.”
