On The Fringe takes last at Punchestown
The concluding race on Day two of the Punchestown Festival, the Brian Price Memorial Champion Hunters Chase, was won by the Enda Bolger trained On The Fringe in the hands of John Thomas McNamara.
McNamara came with a well timed to run to lead at the last and stayed on best close home to record a length and three parts win over Kilty Storm
The winning pair survived a nasty incident at the first fence when they were lucky to avoid three fallers.
A delighted Bolger said afterwards: "He's a nice horse for the future. They just went so fast but John Thomas used his head."
"He won his point to point at Lisronagh three weeks ago, Nina rode him and thought he was brilliant."
"We decided to give him his chance with more experienced horses today but we never thought he'd win, we'd have been delighted if he finished in the first five or six."
