Ode deservedly off the mark

There may have been only five participants in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden but it provided an exciting conclusion with Ode To Psyche coming out on top by half a length under Fran Berry at Roscommon.
Owned and bred by the Niarchos family and their Flaxman Stables Ireland Ltd, Jessica Harrington's Ode To Psyche certainly wasn't winning out of turn and the 81-rated daughter of Dansili was getting off the mark here on attempt number twelve.
Reverting back from the handicap company she kept at Killarney last time, Ode To Psyche stayed on best in the final furlong to edge out Ceylon
Outsider Sunrise J had made a bold bid from the front but eventually had to settle for fourth place, just behind 5/4 favourite Diylawa
Berry reported: "She has been running very consistent. She has been running into good fillies along the way and she was beaten in Leopardstown by a good filly of Dermot Weld's (Starlet) and the handicap run in Killarney the last day was very good.
"She is tough, genuine and game and she kept finding a bit and stayed well. She is a well-bred filly and it is nice to get a winning bracket." (DM & EM)
