The Irish Injured Jockeys 3-y-o Handicap produced a great tussle between Action Plan and Cardinal Zin with the former coming out on top by a short head.
Placed at Carlisle last year when trained by Karl Burke and picked up at the autumn sales for 20,000gns, the Soldier's Call gelding was making his third start for Ger O'Leary and the Purosangue Syndicate.
Sent off 22/1, Shane Foley's mount tracked the leaders before coming through to join issue with Cardinal Zin at the furlong pole and he found plenty under pressure to just shade the verdict.
“He’d a nice run in Cork and handled the ground well that day," said Foley.
"He gets through it well and that’s always a help.
“Ger’s horses have all been running well and it’s nice to get a winner.”
