O'Connell excels at Ballinrobe
Amy’s Song from the Liam Kenny stable justified support (7/1 - 11/2) when claiming the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Chase under a strong ride by Brian O’Connell.
O’Connell sent the Taipan filly to the front at the second last and kept on well on the run-in under a strong drive by O’Connell to hold off the 7/2 favourite Fairwood Bob by three parts of a length.
Winning trainer Kenny said afterwards: “It’s great for the owner Thomas O’Hara who is from Pallantine in Carlow.”
“She probably wants about three miles a longer trip would suit her better.”
“If everything goes well we will aim her for something at the Galway Festival.”
