O'Connell at his best
The concluding race on today’s card the Jim Ryan Racecourse Services (Pro/Am) Flat Race was won by the Brian Nolan trained Tus Nua under a fine ride by Eddie O’Connell.
O’Connell produced his mount to lead over one furlong out and kept on strongly to score by one and three parts of a length.
Winning trainer Nolan said afterwards: “She has been working well at home and we were just hoping she would stay.”
“We decided to start her off in a bumper but your never sure with flat breds whether they’d stay or not.”
“We might run her on the flat now over a mile and a half. She has a good future.”
The winning owners Brian O'Connor and Mary Kinsella both work for Jim Bolger.
