Cavallo Pazzo got up in the closing stages of the Molson Coors Beverage Company Handicap to bring up a double for Joseph O'Brien.
The 11/8 favourite improved to second in his pursuit of Blue Peak over a furlong out and wore down that rival at the business end.
He won by three-parts of a length from the 5/1 runner-up with the front pair clear of the remainder. Catherine Chroi (9/1) took third, some five and a-half lengths adrift.
Stable representative Sean Corby said: "He deserved that and I'say just the step up to seven furlongs helped him a lot, he stayed on well last week in Fairyhouse over six so the extra furlong helped.
"He had a lot of weight today on the ground, but he coped with it well. He's a big horse, so hopefully there is a bit of improvement to come again.
"He handles that ground well so I'd imagine over the next few weeks he'll run again while the ground stays slow."
Cavallo Pazzo had come in second in two of his last three outings.
O'Brien got on the Down Royal scoresheet through Sluice in race three.
