She's Not Simple swooped on the outer to spring a 33/1 shock in the six-furlong maiden at Naas.
Live Dangerously took them along and there were plenty in with chances from the two pole as the field spread out. Cottrell worked his way to a narrow lead a furlong from home but was soon tackled and passed by the James Lambe-trained daughter of Holy Roman Emperor.
She kept on well in the closing stages to post a length-and-a-quarter success under Tadhg O'Shea. 4/5 favourite Swift Action who had held every chance over a furlong out, was back in third.
“She's not the easiest to train as she's a bit fractious,” revealed Lambe afterwards.
“The drop in trip and the fast ground helped a lot as did the tongue tie. We'll see what the handicapper does with her.”
The winner was dropping back to six furlongs for the first time. She only had one behind when slowly away over a mile at Leopardstown last Thursday having beaten two home on her debut here two weeks ago.
The winner paid 40.90 on the Tote.
