Bought out of the Sheila Lavery yard for 54,000 Euros at Goffs on Tuesday Njord made a winning start for the Blessingindisguise Partnership and Jessica Harrington in the Kone Handicap at Galway.
Winning jockey Shane Foley explained: “We didn't know much about him as we only have him a couple of days. He was bought on Tuesday, was entered for this on Wednesday and was in isolation for two days before we got him.
"He tended to be a bit slowly out of stalls and there was no pace on and at halfway they were hacking so I let him stride on. He got the mile well at the Curragh and I think he'll be a nicer horse on better ground."
Njord was putting wins back-to-back after signing off for Sheila Lavery with success at the Curragh just over a fortnight back.
Here the three-year-old, a gelded son of Roderic O’Connor, justified 9/4 favouritism by two and a quarter lengths from Lightning Amber
Michael Mulvany supplied the third and fourth home, Stormy Tale and Ideal Pal
C.D. Hayes, rider of Ontheiflist trained by H.Rogers, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped awkwardly on leaving the starting stalls.
