Niven strongest where it counts

"Shane (Foley) wanted to be forward on him but they went very quick and he sensibly took his time instead," was the post race reaction of trainer Ken Condon after his Niven defied top-weight in the Coral.ie Money Back If Your Horse Is Beaten By A Length Handicap at Limerick.
It looked like pace-setting Charlies Missile had this in the bag in the final quarter mile when still clear.
However he was reeled in inside the last by Niven who went on to score by three and a half lengths. Three Majors from around 14/1 this morning into 5/1, filled the third spot.
"He'll give his owners plenty of fun but won't run on fast ground," further stated Condon.
