News At Six completes treble

Rarely do horses break their maiden tags in a Derby but News At Six did so at the Curragh last month and completed a fine hat-trick of wins in the Peter Hook & The Light Race at Leopardstown today, for his trainer Jim Bolger.
Jockey Ronan Whelan steered the son of New Approach to a maiden win in the Apprentice Derby in June before Bolger's stable jockey Kevin Manning took over to win at Fairyhouse on July 2 and again today. The win also brought up Manning's double having earlier steered Bolger's Teocht to win a handicap.
Following News At Six's win, Bolger stated “the ground was not a help. He's entered in the E100,000 Nasrullah Handicap here next Thursday (formerly the Golden Pages Handicap) over the same trip and could go for that but has some competition (with three other stablemates also entered - Einstein's Folly, Chance To Dance and Teoirim)!”
