Neworleans impresses in novice
Down In Neworleans made it three from three over fences with an impressive success in the Deacy Gilligan Novice Chase at Galway.
Danny Mullins tracked the leader Spill The Beans in the early stages before his mount jumped into the lead at the fence going out on the final circuit.
The 2/1 second favourite, trainer by the pilot's mother Mags, kicked clear before the second last and soon had his rivals in trouble.
Mullins got to work on the six-year-old turning for home and he galloped on strongly up the straight to record a 10-length success over 7/4 favourite Dr Whizz
The winner was following up his course and distance success a the Festival meeting here.
"After he won here at the festival it was always the plan to come back," said Mags Mullins.
"It was lovely ground and he handles the track well. He just loves jumping.
"I think we'll go now for that race at Roscommon (Grade 3 Kilbegnet Chase - 26th September)."
The race was called by guest commentator Gary Capewell, who was paying his second visit to Ireland having covered the Arab race at the Guineas meeting at the Curragh.
Capewell works for William Hill radio as well as covering Arab races in England and is training with Racetech.
"I'm delighted to get the chance for more experience," said the visiting commentator.
