The Andy Oliver trained Plot Twist ridden by Chris Hayes, caused a 25/1 upset to win the concluding Longines Irish Champions Weekend Maiden on debut at the Curragh today, scoring despite a slow start and wide draw.
The son of Champs Elysees was slowest away and last with three furlongs to race. However the winner quickened impressively in the closing stages to eventually wear down the leaders and beat Unyielding by a short head, on the line.
Afterwards Oliver stated "we've been waiting on him for a while. He's a big horse and was very immature last year.
"He was barely ready for a run and Chris said he blew up twice. He's a lovely mover and Chris was very impressed. It's possible he could go for a Group 3 at Leopardstown on Irish Champions Weekend."
