Nelson sails clear in Curragh feature
Viscount Nelson landed the odds with the minimum of fuss in the featured Donate to KARE at www.kare.ie Silver Stakes to complete a double on the evening for Aidan O'Brien and Colm O'Donoghue.
O'Donoghue, successful earlier aboard Vault in the two-year-old maiden, always had things under control on the 4/5 favourite in this Listed event as he tracked main market rival Bob Le Beau (7/4).
The son of Giant's Causeway, a close-up third in the Coral-Eclipse last year, cruised up to challenge over a furlong out and quickened clear to beat Bob Le Beau by three and a half lengths. Waydownsouth (20/1) was another two lengths back in third.
O'Donoghue said: “He looked the one beforehand on ratings and on form and he did it well. He was always travelling nicely, and hopefully its onwards and upwards from here.”
