Champion Trainer Willie Mullins completed a four-timer at Naas today when Shaneshill (5/2jf), ridden by Mullins' son Patrick, made a winning racecourse debut in the Go Racing In Kildare Membership 2014 Bumper.
The son of King's Theatre, who had finished third on his only point to point start for Wilson Dennison at Bennettsbridge last February, made all and battled well in the straight to beat newcomer Joshua Lane by two lengths.
Mullins later said “he did it the hard way.
“He came from Wilson Dennison's and came highly recommended. He'd been very green at home and it's a pleasant surprise to see him do that in a good field of bumper horses. I'd imagine there's plenty of improvement in him and I'd imagine we'd be looking at a winners' bumper at Christmas for him next.”
Mullins' earlier winners came with Rupert Lamb Diakali and Clonard Lad each ridden by Ruby Walsh.
