My Newbrook Rose caused a 20/1 upset to win the BetVictor Handicap Hurdle at Thurles today, scoring for trainer Adrian Murray and jockey Jonathan Moore.
The seven year old daughter of Doyen was a point-to-point winner at Castletown-Geoghegan last April and while she failed in her initial six hurdle outings, today scored a two and a half lengths win over Fourina
Afterwards trainer Murray stated “the last day the ground was very heavy and she didn't act on it at all.
“I thought she'd run well today as she had a nice run here in a maiden so I was expecting her to step up a bit.
“That's her first time to run over this trip on the track and I wasn't too worried about it as she'd won over three miles in a point-to-point before.
“We'll look for something similar. We'll go for another hurdle anyway and she could jump a fence next year.”
