The Pat Flynn-trained Hes Our Music recorded his seventh career victory and his sixth at Dundalk when making all the running in the opening ten furlong claimer at the all-weather venue tonight.
Pat Smullen was keen to get to the front on the 9/4 favourite and was quickly across from his draw in stall 12.
He travelled best early in the straight and had enough in reserve in the closing stages to post a half length victory over Elusive In Paris as the pack chased him down.
There was just a head back to Power Grid who shaded the third spot by a nose from Mandarin Monarch
“He had the form in the book. He loves the surface and loves the track,” said Smullen.
“I was going to get caught four or five wide at the turn so I decided to kick on and get to the front.
“At the four furlong marker he pricked his ears and I knew we were in business then. He has a bit of class and quickened away.
“He was just running on empty going to the line but on form he probably deserved to win that.”
Dot Love claimed Mandarin Monarch for €10,000.
