Murtagh records Dundalk double
Jockey Johnny Murtagh partnered the first two winners at Dundalk today, combining with trainers David Wachman and Ger Lyons.
Murtagh had no more than a steering job on Wachman's heavily backed Pursuit Of Glory (13/8 in the morning into 4/7 favoutite) who easily landed the Ardea Fillies Maiden.
Half an hour later, the Co Meath rider was made work hard to win on Ger Lyons' Achak in the Annagassan (C & G) Maiden.
The son of Invincible Spirit chased the leaders, was under pressure from two furlongs and eventually only got his head in front on the line.
The double brings Murtagh's seasonal tally to 68, one ahead of Fran Berry, at the head of the Jockeys' Championship.
