Shebella left it late as she got up in the dying strides to claim the fillies maiden at Limerick. Ahaaly made a bid for home over a furlong out when claiming front-runner Susiescot
Johnny Murtagh was only nursing the Aga Khan newcomer along, however, and she picked up nicely after a few backhanders.
The John Oxx-trained daughter of Dubai Destination was a cosy winner at the line as she got up for a neck success.
The winner had been well-backed this morning (from 13/8) and was eventually sent off 11/10 favourite. The runner-up had also attracted support from 6/1 into 5/2.
"She was smart and professional," commented Murtagh afterwards.
"She knew her job and I was very pleased with her. She quickened up well."
It was Murtagh's only ride on the card and his final mount before he departs for Dubai where he has six engagements.
