Murtagh and O´Brien win first two at Leopardstown
Aidan O´Brien and Johnny Murtagh continued their rich vein of form by winning the opening two races at Leopardstown on Thursday evening. Rip Van Winkle awarded a maiden race in the steward´s room at the Curragh on his debut needed no such intervention to land the Group 3 Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown.
The son of Galileo tracked the leaders into the straight and quickened up nicely inside the final furlong to beat market favourite Cuis Ghaire by 1 1/4 lengths.
Rip Van Winkle was given a quote of 14/1 from 25/1 by William Hill for next season´s English 2000 Guineas.
Murtagh and O´Brien were also successful in the opening auction maiden race when Gluteus Maximus stepped up on his debut effort at Naas where he was beaten 10 lengths.
