Kodiqueen gained her second win this month when landing the Pier 26 Supporting Marymount Hospice Handicap at Cork today for trainer Joe Murphy and apprentice jockey Gavin Ryan.
The daughter of leading stallion Kodiac was an easy winner for jockey Gary Carroll at Sligo on August 7 and while hit with a 13lbs ratings rise for that success, today's rider Ryan's helpful 7lbs claim partially offset that burden as she proved a length and a half too strong for She's My Dream
Afterwards trainer Murphy stated “we're delighted with her. I thought the handicapper was a bit hard on her for last time so we had to take 7lb off her back with Gavin (Ryan) because she's a small filly.
“The fact it was a three-year-old-only race today was why she ran here over five furlongs, but six furlongs is her best trip. We'll look for another handicap.”
