We've seen some of his horses show up well enough in recent times to suggest that it was only a matter of time before Pat Murphy got off the mark as a trainer. The all important success arrived courtesy of Wagadoogoochoochoo under Declan McDonogh in division two of the Tommy Tiernan Live After Racing Friday October 4th Handicap at Gowran.
Castlecomer-based Murphy wasn't on had to witness the 20/1 shot's victory as he's currently on honey-moon - at the moment taking in the Grand Prix in Singapore. That precededs a friend's wedding in Bali.
Michael, a brother of Pat's, was at Gowran and he saw the victorious Footstepsinthesand filly (owned by the Ad Astra Partnership) quicken up smartly to account for New Regalia and Hoppsan by two and a half lengths and a head.
The gambled-on Smoke Charger had to make do with fourth place, a further three parts of a length adrift. (AM & EM)
