Promising claimer David Mullins registered his first ever double, at Navan today, when the well-backed 5/2 favourite Bog War landed the two-mile handicap hurdle.
The 5lb claimer is enjoying a real break-through season and shone once again on Liam Cusack's charge.
He produced his mount to challenge before the second last and kicked on going to the final flight.
The Rakti gelding galloped on strongly on the run-in to record a two-and-a-quarter length success.
The winner, who had only been beaten by two heads when third at Punchestown last month, was strongly supported on course after opening up at 7/2.
"I walked the track beforehand and was a little worried about the ground," revealed Cusack.
"He was a tad unlucky the last day, because of a faller he was a bit further back than you would like.
"Off his mark today and with David claiming I thought he had a fair chance. He's a good genuine little horse, a good trier and he'll mix it with the Flat."
