The mares’ bumper went as expected to Willie Mullins’ well-bred newcomer Walk On The Moone who was sent off 8/15 favourite.
Related to several smart types including Grade 3 winner Mount Ida, the daughter of Walk In The Park was patiently handled by Patrick Mullins who brought her into contention on the outside on the turn for home. In front over a furlong out, the five-year-old ran on well to win by five and a half lengths from Blossom De Mai with another six lengths back to third home Sweet Magic
"She was very green early on and at halfway I thought I was in trouble. The further we went the better she has gone,” said Patrick Mullins.
“Her pedigree should suggest stamina as well. It's a tricky track first time and she's not in as long as some of our other ones would be so there might be improvement in her.
“We'll see what Willie says, there are a couple of winners bumpers early next month but she could go jumping as well. It's a great start anyway.”
