Willie Mullins completed a short-priced double on the afternoon at Clonmel as The West Awaits took the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Flat Race in workmanlike fashion.
The daughter of Flemensfirth was sent off the 1/2 favourite having run with credit earlier this month in a Grade 2 at the Dublin Racing Festival.
Patrick Mullins had her up with the pace throughout but needed to get to work from over a furlong out.
She edged right onto the far rail prompting a stewards enquiry but a length win over Daphne Moon was subsequently confirmed.
Phillapa Sue made a promising debut staying on to finish another length and three quarters back in third.
The champion trainer was on the mark earlier with 8/13 favourite Marajman in the 2m3f maiden hurdle.
Mullins said, "She idled when she got to the front on very heavy, cut up ground and we'll probably go for a winners' bumper with her. The ground is very gluey and is so cut up after the other hurdles races being run on it.
"I'd like to find a winners' bumper down the country, that would suit me, and go jumping then. I think she is improving and I hope she is good enough to win a winners' bumper."
