Daring Carlotta made it two from two as she justified odds-on favouritism when taking the bumper at Killarney, the Don't Forget Ladies Day This Thursday Mares Flat Race, for Willie and Patrick Mullins (double for Willie after earlier scoring with Daisy’s Gift).
The Supreme Horse Racing Club owned five-year-old won on her debut at Clonmel last month and she had subsequent bumper winners Isaac Bell and Dubh Eile behind her on that occasion.
Having opened at 5/6 on-course she went off the clear 4/5 favourite and raced just behind the leaders.
She was fourth turning into the straight for the final time but travelled up strongly on the outer to lead over a furlong from home and she was ridden out from there to score by two and a quarter lengths. Rosetub ran a fine race to finish second under Katie Walsh for Timothy Corcoran at 20/1 while Silver Sally (33/1) kept on well inside the final furlong to finish two and a half lengths back in third under Sheila Ahern for Thomas Cummins.
Patrick Mullins said afterwards: "She ran a bit keen and I thought she idled in front and I thought there was a bit more there.
"She is very well bred and I think she has got an engine. I think there is a mares winners of two bumper for her in Wexford after Galway.
"She is a mare to look out for on this type of ground but a maiden hurdle at Galway will come too soon."
The win for Daring Carlotta meant nine favourites were successful today from the fourteen races run in Ireland.
