Mullins completes Punchestown double
Tony Mullins completed a double this afternoon after he took the concluding race on this afternoon’s card, the Dick Grainger Memorial (Pro/Am) Flat Race with 7/2 Age Benefit
Pa Murphy made all on the Beneficial gelding and the pair were clear from under two furlongs out, kepping on well for a three and half length win over Far Away So Close
A delighted Mullins said afterwards: “He’s a good horse, he’s not overly big but he’s really tough.”
“We might go for the Cheltenham Bumper, we’ll school him first and see how he jumps. I won’t ask him to carry a penalty in a winner’s race.”
“He seems to like that sort of ground. He just wasn’t ready the last day he ran at Fairyhouse and I was raging with myself.”
Mullins earlier winner came when Aranleigh took the opening race on this afternoon's card.
The rider of Follow The Moon which finished tailed off in the Bumper received a seven day suspension for continuing to whip his mount when out of contention.
