Bought out of a claimer when winning at the course three weeks back, 10,000 Euro purchase Veil Of Stars made a winning start for the Tony Mullins yard in the first split of the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap at Dundalk.
Danny Sheehy rode his third winner (claim now down to 7Ibs), donning the silks of Mullins' son Anthony, and the 10/1 shot was in front well before halfway and she made the rest.
In the end she had two and a half lengths in hand over the staying-on Shabra Emperor
"I don't know much about her yet but she is a little bit hot. She will have to run at the next level now as she will be above 65," said Tony Mullins.
"She's just a bit hyper but, if we can cool her down, she's well capable of doing it."
This was Anthony Mullins' first success as an owner.
The Stewards interviewed Karen Kenny, rider of Big Bad Blonde concerning her use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g), in that she used the whip with her arm above shoulder height and having considered her record cautioned her regarding her future responsibilities in this regard.
