Champion Jockey Pat Smullen gained a first win of the winter series at Dundalk when steering the Tracey Collins trained Captain Joy to win the Book Your Christmas Party At Dundalk Handicap this evening.
The winner raced prominently throughout and went clear from two furlongs out, staying on well for a length win over Rummaging
Collins later stated “he (Captain Joy) loves it up here and never seems to run a bad race - he travels exceptionally well here.
“The plan coming here was this was going to be his last race (this year). I don't think there is a whole lot more for him & we'll probably put him away for a break now.”
The win was Captain Joy's fifth career success and a sixth of the year for trainer Collins.
