More Guineas joy for O'Brien
Like her stable companion Roderic O'Connor yesterday, Misty For Me left behind a disappointing effort at Newmarket to take the Etihad Airways Irish 1,000 Guineas under Seamie Heffernan. The Galileo filly was bringing up a four-timer on the day for Ballydoyle, following on Reply Alexander Pope and So You Think
The dual Group 1 winning two-year-old came home best of all to beat her stable companion Together with Jessica Harrington's Laughing Lashes third and Jim Bolger's Claiomh Solais fourth.
O'Brien said: "She's always been a very good filly and she stays well. The plan for her was to come here and then on to Epsom for the Oaks. Together is likely to go for the Coronation now.
"Last year Misty For Me won on all grounds so I was puzzled by her run at Newmarket. I knew the ground wasn't the cause and it seems that she just didn't fire on the day.
"Seamie knows her very well and gave her a great ride and she is a tough hardy filly."
Paddy Power now go 8/1 from 16s for the Oaks about Misty For Me whilst Ladbrokes go 10/1 from 16s the same filly for the same race.
Wonder Of Wonders is 4/1 2nd fav for the Oaks.
