Bellow Mome got his chasing career off to the best possible start when taking the Jim Murphy Contract Fence Builder Beginners Chase at Thurles.
The five-year-old gelding, successful twice for connections over hurdles last term, was never too far off the pace and asserted on the run-in under Ruby Walsh to justify odds of 2/1.
The Willie Mullins-trained son of Honolulu had four and a half lengths to spare over the odds-on General Principle with Jimmy Two Times the same distance back in third.
Mullins said, "He jumped very well. We'll have to look for a winners' of one or a step up in grade to a graded race so we'll see what's on the calendar before or during Christmas.
"I always think he's better on this ground (yielding) but he is able to win on heavy. I do think he's better on good ground and am looking forward to the spring with him."
