Misty Lady s remarkable rise through the handicap ratings continued at Gowran today as the John Cullen trained mare broke the E100,000 earnings barrier when winning the Grade C Kilkenny Racing Festival Handicap Hurdle, under jockey Sean Flanagan.
The daughter of Oscar won her first handicap start from a lowly rating of 85 in January 2014 but was today winning from 121 and notching up a fifth win, three of which were at Graded handicap level, to bring her earnings to E103,920.
Recently retired jockey-turned-trainer Cullen afterwards stated "she's tough. She'd never been over the trip (three miles) but in the end of the day, staying won it for her.
"Today was to see if she got the trip and it gives us options now as she's versatile."
