A Noel Meade winner of a maiden hurdle at 16/1. Yes, that happened at Kilbeggan as Milt Yarberry stepped up on previous efforts to win nicely by two and a half lengths.

“He was going to run well in Ballinrobe, but got murdered on the bend. Davy (Condon) didn’t kill him after that. He goes on that ground,” Noel Meade said.

“He probably didn’t jump as well today as he can. He might have another run on the flat now. He was a very hard horse to get settled and that’s why we gave him a few runs on the flat. He’s for sale.”

Davy Condon brought Milt Yarberry through to race just behind Expressaninterest after the third last. He jumped the last into the lead and was ridden out to relegate Expressaninterest into second at 14/1. Another outsider, Ring Eye came third at 28/1.

The 4/6 favourite Posiden Sea never looked like getting involved today as the top-weight weakened from the second last to finish seventh of the 11 runners. He was backed from 7/4 this morning and from even money on opening show at the track. His jockey Andrew McNamara reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled.
