Mikhail gives punters scare
Mikhail Glinka gave odds-on punters a scare in the Dawn Juice Maiden when swerving early in the straight.
The Ballydoyle newcomer had took up the running just after halfway and looked set to power clear turning in.
The 4/7 favourite jinked just over a furlong out, however, and that lose of momentum gave Walter De La Mare a chance to throw down a challenge.
Johnny Murtagh got his mount going again inside the final furlong and he was striding away again at the finish for a length-and-a-half success, giving connections a double after Black Quartz s victory in the nursery.
"He showed his inexperience. When he heard the crowd cheering he just edged towards the rail," explained Murtagh.
"He got going again and it was a very good performance to win first time at Galway. We think a lot of him."
