It proved a good day for the Brownes at Cork this afternoon with Michael following his brother Willie into the winners enclosure. The Cola Kid proved a game winner of the first division of the Fermoy Handicap for Michael Browne.
Nathan Crosse gave the Lethal Force gelding a strong drive and asked his mount for an effort on the far side two furlongs from home.
The 3/1 joint-favourite got to the front inside the final furlong and kept on well in the closing stages to post a length-and-a-quarter success over She's In The Game
"He did it well and it'll probably get tough for him now as he'll have to go up in grade a bit,” said the winning trainer.
"Six furlongs on good ground is his gig and he doesn't get seven, even though you'd think he would. We tried him a few times and he wants good ground.
"Today was the plan after the last day and he won't run now for three weeks or a month."
Willie Browne had trained One Sweet Day to win the preceding race.
