Jessica Harrington’s 112-rated Ilmig put his experience to good use to win the Fermoy Maiden Hurdle at Cork under Donagh Meyler.
Dual bumper winner and odds-on favourite Carrarea seemed to be hanging under Brian Hayes, and he eventually had to give best to Ilmig by half a length.
"I had plenty of spins for Mrs Harrington in the past as a claimer and that's my first winner for her,” said Meyler.
"He did it really well, jumped and travelled everywhere and picked off the favourite up the straight and the experience helped him."
Following a request from broadcasters, the Stewards granted permission for the following delays: Race 1 1 minute
B. Hayes, rider of Carrarea trained by Emmet Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left.
P. Townend, rider of Dalvey (GB) trained by James McAuley, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped poorly.
P.K. Donovan, rider of Sheer Bravado trained by Patrick G.Kelly, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left after the second last.
