Mellow Manner emerged on top after another thrilling three-way finish to the Killarney Vintners Handicap at the Kerry venue. Whitethorne Scent was sent off 3/1 favourite after attracting support, from 5/1 in the morning, and swept into the lead under two furlongs out.
Another gamble Casela Park (12/1 in morning into 9/2) tried to throw down a challenge inside the final furlong.
But the pair were nabbed on the outer by Mellow Manner, who swooped wide under Leigh Roche to get ahead for a neck success close home.
Whitethorne Scent stuck on to claim the runner-up stop with Casela Park looking a tricky ride in third.
The winner had also attracted some money and was sent off an 8/1 shot after trading at 12/1 in the moring.
Andrew McNamara 's charge ran well at Limerick in March but had finished well beaten at Gowran Park last time.
"She was very unlucky at Gowran as she almost got knocked over in the straight," explained McNamara.
"She had a great run over seven at Limerick. She's in again at Gowran on Thursday, over 1m1f and she'll stay further than today's trip. She'll also go back hurdling at some stage.
"We ended up with her when my errant son Robbie arrived home from the sales with her!"
