Placed on his previous two starts and fitted with cheekpieces for the first time, Heishybrid made the most of a good draw to land the Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden.
Very easy-to-back all day and sent off 11/1, the Ulysses gelding emerged from stall one to lead after a furlong and found plenty in the straight to defeat Berto Ramirez by half a length.
“The first time he ran he didn't know what he was doing and the second time he was a little bit the same,” said trainer Noel Meade of the Rockmore 2 Partnership's winner.
“The last day in the north he got lost on Colin. He was slow away, he dropped him in, and he didn't get a great run around the bend but he came home well.
“I can't believe the price he was. I thought he had a fighting chance and we had to be one of the favourites.
“The owners have been with me for a long time and it's nice to see them win again.
“He'll stay further. He's rated 76, I don't suppose he'll change him much for that, and he'd go for a nursery I'd imagine.”
