Trainer Willie McCreery is enjoying a fine season and registered his 20th win of the campaign when landing the featured E40,000 Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Premier Nursery Handicap at Navan today with the Godolphin owned Shrill
Shrill was ridden to win by five pounds claimer Robbie Downey and afterwards McCreery stated "we wanted to take weight off her and myself and Billy Lee (McCreery's regular jockey) discussed it and came up with Robbie; it was important to take the weight off as she's only small."
He added "it's great to get her back after running badly in Newbury but that was probably my fault as the ground didn't suit.
"She's an out-and-out five furlong filly and this was a nice pot to win; that's the second bonus she's won so it's nice to get also.
"She's a smart filly and we'll keep her going as long as we get the ground."
McCreery is already within four winners of beating his previous seasonal best total of 24 wins in 2013.
