McCoy leaves Fairyhouse with a winner

Tony McCoy's trip to Fairyhouse reaped rewards when Western Man ran out a cosy winner of the two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle on the card.
McCoy had three booked rides today but had to wait to the last of those before tasting success at the County Meath track. Alderimli blazed a trail in the race but Ronnie O'Leary's charge moved through to give chase from the fourth last having been settled mid-division early.
The 7/4 favourite was asked for an effort going to the second last and soon tackled the front-runner after the flight.
He was starting to assert when that rival made a mistake at the final obstacle. Indubitably came through to fill the runner-up spot but never looked like pegging back the winner and McCoy could afford a peak behind in the closing stages as his mount recorded a cosy two-and-a-quarter length win.
The winner was gaining a deserved success having been runner-up on his previous two starts.
“He's got his head in front at last and I'm delighted with that,” said O'Leary.
“He jumps well and we'll try to find another one like that.”
