Trainer John McConnell displayed versatility in completing a cross-card double today, beginning with Mythical Phoenix s sprint success in Bellewstown's Phil & Patsy Kierans Memorial Maiden and following 18 minutes later, with a Wexford three-mile hurdle win.
Ridden by Donagh O'Connor, Mythical Phoenix made it third-time-lucky when scoring by a length and a half from Double Jabbed in the five-furlong dash and followed up in Wexford's 6.13pm race with Kinbara
McConnell commented "he's just getting faster as we go along and, as we know, this is a quick five.
"For his third run, it was a good performance. He's a lovely horse and there's more to come and Donagh said it took an age to pull him up. He's probably only coming to himself now and is also probably on the market.
"He'll stay six furlongs no problem, he's fast and will probably get faster."
